The damn beehive!!!

I WAS attempting tonight to get the damn bolts under the beehive undone. I can't getem' though. 1. I can't get the 7/8'' or the 22mm wrench on the damn bolt to start, mostly the rear bolt or 2. my wrench is too long and I can't get the needed space and leverage to loosen the damn bolts up. Any suggestions??

I went through the same ordeal not too long ago. It's definately not fun, I ended up cutting mine off with a dremel pencil tool attatchment, and then putting in a new stud to the cooler.

Try some liquid wrench, or penetrating fluid. Let it sit on there for a while, and DO NOT strip the nuts like I did.

7/8ths? You mean 12mm, right? They're small anyway,(maybe even 10 mm) and there are 3 of them. Yes, they are a bitch and a half to get off. But not impossible. You can only access them from up top and by feel. You'll need an open end or 12-point box end wrench -- a socket won't fit.

I have big hands and was still able to remove my beehive. Also, use LOTS of profanity. Turn the air blue at the top of your lungs. **** off the neighbors. Get arrested for disturbing the peace. That helps loosen the nuts. Honest.

the 2 nuts holding it to the engine are 10mm, then there is a 12mm bolt going down from the top. The banjo bolt holding the line to the cooler is 23mm. Thats all that holds it on. Its a pita, and as said earlier, can only be done from above by feel, can't see the 10's very easy from below. Good luck, its such a piece of **** you'll be glad you swapped it.

woo... sounds like I'll be in for some fun as soon as my parts get here. I'm just glad it will be done with the engine removed and sitting on a stand.

and that 23mm banjo bolt seems like it has a thousand threads on it. I had to take mine off to change the o-rings. I got the 10mm rear nut closest to the back from the bottom with a 12-point combination wrench. Also the 23mm might be easier to get from the bottom.

yea, the 23mm is a toss up, its hard to get at from any side, it just sucks, and I also agree, it seems like its a mile long, takes forever to get out of there.

To get myn off i had to take the whole oil cooler off, put the wrench on, hit it on tightly with a hammer then i braced the oil cooler assembaly and i jumped on it... That finally did it after about 3 hours of screwing my hands up attempting to get that annoying banjo
