Custom Suspension Set-ups

Hi guys, im mainly looking for what people have done and what works for our cars.
I had the idea of maybe trying rear shocks from an ae86. Im trying to reduce ride height significantly and still have suspension travel. Now I know some might think, just use standard lowering springs or convert to t3 coilovers and that lowering too much is a bad thing. I'm looking for a cost effective alternative.
Here are the questions I have
1.Are they shorter in overall length?
2.And will they actually lower the car?

I havent done it myself, but i have seen the ground control set up works well for the rear for coilover conversion. The front you could use the ground control, but i have also seen the 2nd gen set up made as a hybrid with the first gen set up.

I'm going to run the FC front subframe with FC coilovers and camber plates in the stock FB strut towers. I'll just elongate the bolt holes and it should mount up just find in there.

The rears are a little harder to work with since it's a shock and coil spring setup, but it can be done. Someone used Mustang coilovers in the rear of the FB, or you can go with the T3 rear setup.

Stance just made a new coilover set for our cars that runs ~$1,200 and is a pretty good deal for an entire conversion - I have yet to see one installed though.

hey there you can use the following koni numbers wich are both made for lowerede suspension and both are adjustable. i have a dual four-link with center wattlink but you can also use the damper with stock suspension and it works very well.

front use 8641-1072Sport
Rear use 82-1668SPD1

if you weld som threaded sleeves to the front struts then u can adjust the hight in tha back you can use 95 mm oval track springs wich are found in many dimensions and stiffnes.

I will try to post some pictures of my setup

Hey sa22rally,

Would the koni 8641-1072Sport slip into the front with no modification? Im planning on replacing my front shocks soon. What the difference between these and the Koni 86R-2345 Racing Beat offers for the front of our cars?

KONI Strut - Front for 81-85 RX-7 - Racing Beat

Thanks,

This is your best bet for quality and to get what you really want OP. If it's too pricey i'd look for a used set of re-speed coilovers. Now to make a phone call to stance USA for myself lol.

Thanks for the info DreamInRotary!
