Cup holder

Hello guys,

Not having a cup holder is kind of irritating. I had this car for only one week and already spilled my coffee twice

Have you install one in yours? If so, could you tell me which one works best, and still looks right. If you have any pictures, can you post them as well?

Thanks

Actually, man, if you scroll down the page to like the bottom of page 1, there is a thread called "Cupholders? We have cupholders!" ...I don't know how to post links, otherwise I'd do that for you but FD Racer put some pix of his cupholders in there...If nothing else, there are alot of creative suggestions on that thread!

I find this fascinating.

In NZ, (and I think pretty much everywhere except America), we don't have cupholders in cars. I've never seen one before. I know you can buy them as parts at auto stores, but I've never seen anyone actually use one.

According to an article by travel writer Bill Bryson about American cupholders:

"A car dealer acquaintance of ours tells us that they are one of the first things people remark on, ask about or play with when they come to look at a car. People buy cars on the basis of cupholders. Nearly all car advertisements note them prominantly in the text."

He also discusses the Dodge Caravan, which comes with up to 17 cupholders! When full of people, that is still 2.43 cupholders per person!

But I suppose one might be useful.

Bye,

I had a cupholder, but she left me.

In all seriousness, I used to remove the ashtray on the '80 and set my cup in there. It worked okay, but you had to hold it for braking or cornering. I also have a great stainless steel travel mug that is tall and slender, with an easily sealable lid. I cram it between the passenger seat and the door.

Or, I just hold the cup with my hand while I drive. That works great too.
