Cracked Screen ? Watch it. . .

I have had a small crack (Maybe 4 inches long) in my screen. (Just above the mirror, heading down - >) I parked the girl in the parking yard and went into a club. As it was a pretty hot day, when I got back to her, I noticed how HOT it was inside, it also must have been a bloody good seal, because the 4 inch crack has now split into 4 and each segment is between 12 inches and 2 feet long!

Moral - if you have a crack - REPLACE SCREEN
or - at least leave a small gap to vent the car a bit, while you are away wasting cash in the slot machines!

cracked screens won't hold up as well in an accident either ... approx 1/3 of the strength of the A pillar area is due to the bracing the screen gives !

In Florida, law requires you replace a windshield if cracked. It also requires your insurance company to pay for it.

There's a nice company that will give you a box of steaks when they replace it as well!

Also... Doesn't the crack tend to enlarge after periods of driving? I had a small crack once and got it repaired because someone told me that it will get larger and then to the point where it cannot be repaired (unless you get a new windshield).

Sorry guys - yeah, we call 'em windscreens, you call 'em windsheilds. . .

To fix crack - $130.00
To replace whole screen/sheild - $ 170.00
I guess I'll replace the whole screen/sheild!
