s, and gs, did not come with rear disk or rear window wiper.

if the rear end has disk it has lsd.

This is great!! I have been researching to find out what model car I have and never could find a thread that would answer just that. This has answered my question! I thought I had an S and it seems I have a GS. I truly think this one needs to be in the archives!

it dosent have a rear wiper , you would be able to see it in the pics he has... '5-6-06' hmmm... does the guy have better pictures of it ? alot can change with a car in a year . on a side note . that little plastic peice that sits between the windsheild and the mirror looks like it is still there! that is cool.

Im not sure if this will help any, but on the 84-85 GSL's I have seen they have a badge very distinctly located on the drivers side in the rear that says GSL. However since the car has been painted, it could have been way too easy to remove that badge. The wiper is normally a good giveaway that the car is a GSL and of course as others have said the GSL or GSL-SE are the only ones i know of that have the 4 wheel disks. As for the price, i think thats a little high, I would want to see the rest of the car, look underneath it for the frame, look under the bumper to see if the frame rails where the bumper shocks are to make sure they are straight. Sometimes they can be bent to hell, and the bumper will still look straight. Good luck and let us know what you find out about it.

Well the guy is sayin "it needs a welding job under the front passenger and a little more under the chassis". That statement is kinda suspicous, might be a "Mush" car lol

If it has rust, it's value is far less than a non rusty car. Sounds like it needs a good inspection, and a low-ball offer, assuming it can be saved.

To know for certain you need to examine the Invoice. Because the Options could be ordered a la carte. For example S and GS could have rear Wiper and power windows. Sometimes we had cars delivered with a certain Badge, although only some of the options were ordered, to apply for another package.

very true ! you see that alot in the older days where people are finding super rare camaos!
also if the car needs a 'weld job' that makes it worth no more in my book then 700 usd. that paint could be hiding alot of things. and his loose description of the work to be done could mean the car is coming apart at the welds or there are huge holes that we cant see. if it is stressed... then i wouldnt even feel safe in it.
what does the interior look like ?

Someone deleted my thread yesterday...

Basically it shoulda been a reply to this, but I'd have liked it to go to the FAQ or something...

Basically you CAN NOT tell for 100% CERTAINTY if it is an LSD or not without tearing it down.

I have a GS with a rear drum axle. I watched someone rebuild the LSD with new clutch packs last year or so and install this in the drum brake rear... I own this car and can confirm that there is a drum brake axle with a good, tight LSD. There's probably more like it out there.

Also there are rumors of the LSD cars owners having complaints of the chattering around corners... The dealer would swap out an open diff. This I can't confirm, but it seems plausible. If this is so, then there are plenty of disc brake axles with opens...

Finally, I have a GSL-SE axle that acts like it's an open differential. One wheel spins and no torque load between the two axles with the driveshaft flange locked... But it's not open... It's got 200some odd K miles on it. It's just worn the heck out. It does indeed have clutchpacks in it.

So you see, you never really know what you're gonna get.

Besides, differentials can be changed out easily... A weekend, some wrenches, and a little cash is all it takes.

Just make sure the body is straight and not rusty and you'll be golden.
