Coolant Temperature Sensor Faulty?

Hey guys, my 82 gsl seems to have something wrong with the Coolant temperature sensor. It seems that no matter how long I drive it or leave it idling the needle on the dash does not go above a quarter way up. At first I assumed that the engine was not getting to operating temperature but after driving it for a couple hours and the sensor still reading cold I assumed something was wrong. Does anyone know where I start to fix something like this?

Thats normal. You worry when it creeps up to 1/2 way or higher.

So when the needle is only a quarter the way up that's operating temperature?
