Compression....what do you guys think?
I was bored today, christmas is not for me, and i thought to myself that it probably was i good idea to start my FB and let her run for a while. Stood still since end of October when i last drove her. But i forgot to disconnect the battery so i did'nt know what to expect.
Bought the 7 last fall and she has 135.000km never rebuild and completely stock.
It's cold now here (-6 to -10 C) and we have a lot of snow. I never drive my 7 in the winter never did that with the FC also. When i started her the voltage of the battery wasn't great but she started fine. I think the compression is ok then? I never did a test because when i bought her she started warm and cold ok.
The little film i made starts with some snow images because my garage is a few hundreds of meters away from where i live.

In the past i needed 2 batteries to get my flooded FC engine going again.
Am i correct?
Excuse me for my english, it's not perfect

The rotary engine is very easy to turn over, much easier than a piston engine. The lower the compression, the faster it needs to spin to start and usually the hotter the engine the harder it is to start. Since it fired right up with a weak battery and starts when hot it should have very good compression.
I'm laughing about the garage
A fat American/Wisconsinite would never be able to get out of their car once they pulled in!
Logic seem correct though...a low compression car would be difficult to start. If you're worried about compression....do the ghetto test, or get a gauge, or call your local Mazda dealer and ask if they have a rotary compression tester (every stealership near me has one and they charge around $100 for a test).

Have a good one !

BTW the average dutch ladies are no way as fat as the ones i see on tv in the states.....so thats our luck

Just needed some space where she's of the street and tucked away dry for the winter. Even the FC fitted in there

2nd, Going to a local Mazda dealership makes no sense here because holland is a small country (about 16million people) and we have no more then about 250 rx-7'ns here give or take a few(all gen's combined). The last time i went there for some parts they had to look on the back side of the FC to see that it was a Mazda, they did not believe me......i kid you not

We have 2 specialists here, but they are not around the corner.

Understandable, that's why I gave the other two choices. Even though your (somewhat) local Mazda dealer may not know how to use the rotary compression tester, they may own one. In which case, perhaps you could offer them a couple of Heineken's for their "worthless" piece of junk....then you'd have your own compression tester!
Seriously, I don't think your compression is all that bad, are you having any other problems with the car? Smoke....lack of power?

. I'm the third owner and the previous 2 kept her well i guess, just have to do something on some little spots of rust and paint 2 fenders.
To be honest, i don't wanna know the compression, when she goes, she goes....
7 years ago when i bought my FC na i had some trouble with the engine. Started fine when i bought it but after a couple of weeks could not get her started again. Did a compressiontest and on both rotors very low (a guy i knew had a tester) . I was mad and after an afternoon trying and swearing got it running again and drove the **** out of it for 150 miles.......never had trouble with starting again

What i said about the dealer was no joke, that really happened with the FC untill an older mechanic saw it, he was the only one who recognized it. I keep them far away from my car.
