Ok, what are some of the comments people make as you drive around in your 7? At just one gas station I had 4 people come up to me and say cool car or "thats one of them mazda things right? With that rotary engine, those things go fast." I have also go some weird looks when I mix the fuel in her. But even people on the side of the street turn and watch the car go buy. Had a few people step out of their drive way and all wave as I went by, I didn't know them and I thought at first they were going to say slow down.
love the l.e. great looking. I get 2 comments in my l.e. (avatar) i ALWAYS get "when did you restore it" NEVER thats stock paint
in my 81 gsl "the beast" i always got " thats a z right" hell no its a mazda rx7 open the hood and angels would sing and people when ooohhhhhhhhhh yea.

Currently my car is red with a silver drivers side door. I was driving around town one day and I look in front of me and lo and behold I see a red 1st gen with a silver front left fender! We smiled real big and waved at each other and I mouthed "Nice car!" at him as he drove by in front of me.
It needs some cosmetic work right now so people usually aren't impressed. Well, until I take them for a ride anyway.

i usally get a thumbs up from people who know what a RX-7 is.
i'll take it down to the local racing strip on the weekends and when other cars are reving, showing off their parent's car, i rev mine and get heads turned because my car is like 15+ years older then theirs and sounds alot better. you gotta love a free breathing rotary engine. hehehehe

Most peopl at my school think my 83 s is a pice of **** and want me to sell, but they can rot in hell
I like it and that's all that matters. At gas stations I always get the usual "cool car" but what really impresses them is when I tell them that it's never been in a garage and still has original paint. The people who really know rx7's like it becuase it becuase it has a black interior which I was told is kinda rare (?) check out my site for some pics.

From: Trying to convince some clown not to put a Holley 600 on his 12a.
plain old stock red 85 GS w/ Yaw carb and headers...and a nice loud exhaust dump!
I get;
"Damn that's loud!",
"Why the hell do you need it so loud?" (Shut up, tree hugger!)
"What year is that?",
"Nice car!",
"You wanna sell that thing?!", (Do you see a ****** sign?)
"Is that a Porsche?", (No- Porsches suck!)
"Is that a Fierro?" (People can really **** up a compliment, ya know?!)
Mostly from the older people I get someone who knows all about the rotary. It's so friggin refreshing not to have to explain in less than a gazillion words how an engine with only three moving parts works!
Whatever angle the compliments are coming from, beit knowledge, curiousity, or ignorance, people equate the first gens with speed.
Just ask any punk in a Honda with a sticker on it.
As much as I hate punk-*** kids, it's unmistakeably a compliment when they pick you to "play" with on the road!

Well, I just got my very own for my birthday (the other two are shared with my dad) so not everyone knows about mine, or has a chance to talk to me since I dont go to school with them anymore. So heres what the typical conversation about my car went last night at my birthday party...
Friend: "So I heard you got a new car?"
Me: "Yeah"
Friend: "What kind"?
Me: "A 1983 Mazda RX-7 GSL"
Friend: "Woah, an RX-7? Like in TFATF?"
Me: "No, mines a little older and looks different (pulling out picture to show)"
Friend: "Woah, thats cool, does it go fast?"
Me: "Yeah, Its pretty quick"
Friend: "Your gonna have to race me (drives an 88 Accord) sometime"
Me: "Yeah sure, Ill bring her up after Im done with her"
Friend: "Cool man, Cant wait!"
Friend: "So what does that have in it? A 4 cylinder?"
Me: "No, its a rotary engine"
Friend: "Whats a rotary engine?"
Me: "Faster than yours (as I walk away
)"
So there ya go, thats basically my conversations about my car, I dont know how many of you are still in H.S., or still close to the high school type crowd, but obviously everyone thinks there car is superior. Now im different, I have no idea what the 7 is capable of, especially after I get the engine rebuilt
, but I'm pretty sure she could hold her own against some of my friends stock hondas, contours, and saturns...Im also different in the fact that I WILL have the FASTEST car sooner or later, or at least hype up the car sooooo much that theyre all afraid to race me
.

comments...
the two comments I hear are "what year is that? , like they know it's old but still looks good. The other one I've heard a couple of times now, both from guys in their forties, is yeah I used to have one of those, and then they kinda just stare at it, remembering I guess.
Oh yeah, this older lady (at least in her sixties) in a nice 79 or 80 model 1st gen smiled at me

There's a stretch of road on my way from work that on two consecutive days last week I "opened 'er up". Know what I mean? hehehe Anyway, on the third day there was a cop sitting there. And cops NEVER sit there. I'll take that as a "complaint". LOL
