Yellow w/ black stripes might look ok, depending on how it was done.....

ive never been a fan of yellow... i believe a rich metallic red would be nice... or even an electric blue found on dodges now would look clean... also, and gunmetal gray would look nice.

I'd stay away from black, as it is a soft paint the will scratch easily, and with buffing it may only scratch more.

My daily driver is this gray, and it stays pretty clean... my girl drives a neon with this blue and it really stands out.

psh... yellow is ugly! I'd say that if you are going to go with yellow, go with the original spark yellow, i think the code is YU. Viper yellow just looks odd to me.

Heres pics of a fellow members car. I believe it is the 3rd gen yellow with pearl in it . With and without graphics. I recommended to him to put the mirrors back to black and the door handles.

That would be a big no. Can't really explain why, but visually, it doesn't look right to me. When you do bright/light accents on a dark car, that is what you see. Your eye doesn't want to let you see the car as a whole, it is drawn to the bright/impact color.

It's even worse on the interior. Paint any single part a bright color on the dashand and that is all you see most of the time. You won't notice the rest of the dash most of the time.

This is why many accents are in dark colors, so they diasapper visually. Do you notice the door strips, sure, but you won't stare at them, you will focus in on the car as a whole.

I remember in high school a buddy of mine had a 59 Chevy. It had a chrome strip front to back with a white paint strip in the middle of it from the factory. We painted it flourecent pink. Now those were the days. lol Car was blue btw.

Trochoid, sounds like we are from the same era. A buddy of mine had a 59 cadillac. Black with flames, cragar wheels and a rumble seat in the trunk.

Sh, idon't tell my age any more. More fun that way. My 1st 2 cars were 57 Chevys. The 2nd one was a Special Edition, black with gold trim instead of the chrome. If I only knew what I had back then and still had it now.

****, i had a 57 chevy belair,64 chevelle and a 68 nova. Isn't it the truth about the cars and their worth now. I could of retired with some of the cars that were in my neighborhood.
A guy around the corner from me had a 69 plymouth superbird with the large wing on the back . I remember seeing that and thinking, man that's a ugly wing. Saw one auctioned off back in 85 or 86 for 1 million, yes that's 1.000.000 dollars.

What colors would look good then? Right now its a **** brown, and known around town as "the skidmark" and well.....I'd like to lose that. I don't want to copy off anyone, but I don't know what colors I should go with.

I have been sitting on brn/brn GSL for 3 years that I fondly call the 'turd'. When the brown paint is fresh, it actually looks good and brown is an uncommon color. I like it, the color makes for a perfect sleeper. If you build it up and leave them in the dust, they will be calling it the 'skidmark' for an entirly different reason.

Yeah I hear you, the 2nd 57 was a 4 door Bel-Aire, 283 with the powerpack heads. Sold the heads for almost as much as I paid for the car after the block cracked on the way home from buying it. Had a 65 Barraccuda and 71 Road Runner. Fun cars. Cuda was easier to get laid in.

kgray, nice job, did't even notice it was a vette at 1st. Made my point quite well.

This is my opinion on yellow on the RX-7.I think that the original spark yellow is by far the best yellow you could use on the car.I also think that yellow doesn't quite look right on the FB's unless you highlight it like mazda did with the SA models with black trim all over it.Whenever I see a FB that is all yellow(or all any color for that matter)it just doesn't look good to me.I think you need the black on the door frames, windshield trim, gutters, door handles, side molding, and bumber strips to break up the color.I have a friend that painted his 84 GSL-SE the factory tornado silver, and when he did he painted everything, and to me it looked way better when it had the black accents on it.I would say if you go yellow break it up with some sort of dark color like black or charcoal.

My pick.......RED.......

She needed alot of attention when I got her.....Bought from tow yard....Car was impounded when owner got DUII......She looks very good now I love the yellow....But alas just sold her to buy an 88 FC vert with 77,xxxmiles....I also have a red 80 SA and the red just sets the car off......Stay with factory colors, they just look right on the 7's...
