cold oregon weather tried to kill my 7

So, i brought my car up from the coast of northern california this last summer where i moved up to with my g/f. In the last week the temp. dropped down to the zero degree range. This is the first winter with this engine in my car, i believe the engine was originally from the seattle area though. Anyways...i go out to start up the car in the afternoon after things had warmed back up a bit and there is a huge puddle of oil under my car. extends almost all the way to both front wheels, and about 2 1/2 feet across front to back. i haven't gotten a chance to get back out wipe everything down since that day so i'm not sure where it's coming from. While i was out there though i checked the engine oil and it was good still. There was a bolt that backed way out on top of my steering box though, which i thought was weird. I had adjusted it about two months ago, and i knew everything was tight, and this particular bolt hadn't been touched. Any clues as to what might be goin' on until i can get out there and get my hands on it, wipe off some of the oil mess around that engine. it did look like it came from the steering box, but i just don't get why it would have pushed out so much gear oil?

Let me guess, you had no (or very old) anti-freeze in the radiator, right?

Sounds like it froze, and if you are lucky then it forced a freeze plug out of the block. Otherwise, it may have cracked the block. Or, maybe your radiator burst.

I wish you luck my friend...
