Question cold air..... for a '79???

I heard from this one site (with pics) that you can custom make a cold air for your 1st gen. He had a '79 and he took a flex hose that clamped to the intake, wich than ran down to a hole he cut right in front of the radiator, wich than went to an airbox that he had (im guessing no filter in the box). Which brings me to my next question, if this works, wich sounds like its worth a try, what would happen if you used just a half of the airbox to make a ram-air scoop, would it run to lean?? I think it is just gonna have to be another fun day of trial and error. I'll get back to you as soon as i complete the task with a g-tech.
