Coilover Options

I Know about re-speed, but can't afford it right now, so for the time being i want to find something else. I found the ground control kit. It give you the weld on perch, adjusting sleeve, collars, spring and upper perch for $199.99 for both fronts, and you can get what ever spring rate you want. However, I am skeptical abou GC stuff. Has anyone ever used these sleeves on the front? Work with stock replacement shocks? Or will I have to get some short strokes?

What are some other cheap options for front coilovers? Rear im just going to get short stroke shocks and re-speed springs.

What was the cost for the Respeed front coilovers? I didn't think GC was cheaper...

there is no way to do an assembled kit, as you are not changing the strut tube.....

I think he just means he's used to seeing true coilovers that come fully assembled and ready to bolt in, they could be made but the SA/FB do not have these available mostly because:
1. small niche market.
2. you could only make them for the front, rears would be exactly as the RE-Speed kit comes, springs and perches.
3. relates to #1. Price vs. Demand = Expensive for us.

There is one kit that I know of that comes fully assembled and ready to go, but here's the catch good luck having it imported from Japan.
http://translate.google.com/translat...&hl=en&ie=UTF8
I would buy them but for the time and money put into hem I would just make them myself.
Also about Re Speed, even though the Ground Control kits are a bit cheaper it's all up to you. Personally I would definitely do business with Sam again.
25$ is pocket change compared to what you're going to put into the car eventually.

To be honest I have no idea. The hard part will be figuring out what they mean by "the shock will be traded on hand", and how they order like is 1 just one strut or does 1 mean one pair.
I did a mock run through on how I would order and it's all in Japanese.

Tell me how it works out this will be interesting. This would solve the problem of where we (first gen community) can find a complete kit.

Yes they should accept your card I believe that the bank will automatically convert dollars to Yen but I'm unsure.
*whisper* I don't have a credit card

Annnndddd I guess you should also note, the current currency swap totals those coilovers at around $2,200.

that means you give them your old shocks and they give you new ones. the SA/FB the front struts inclose the spindle so they will give you that whole assembly, and you will have to either buy new wheel bearings and rotors, or reuse yours.

Gforce sells the same thing, basically http://www.gforceengineering.net/products.htm

Go with the Re-Speed kit. Don't Nickel and Dime yourself out of a nice ride.

You would need the steering box/wiper stalk assembly and idler arm from an Asian or Australian car. You would also need to remount your pedal assembly, brake booster/master cylinder, clutch master cylinder. Re-running the wiring wouldn't be too hard. Plus there's all the bits that I can't think of off the top of my head. All so you can have a pretty dash. With some time, patience, effort and a little research you could learn how to make a left hand drive carbon dash and just make it yourself. Or worry about the stuff that matters first.

Nothing wrong with Ground Control. They have been in suspension business for quite a while and there are a lot of people using their stuff. However, RE-Speed has a much larger catalog for 1st gens and your money would be put to better use buying their gear and supporting their efforts to keep coming up with parts we actually need. You will also not get the type of customer support they are known for from an eBay seller or GC.

The thing about GForce is didn't the guy retire?
The only thing that I would order from the Japanese sit is their Sa/Fb hoods, they look pretty sweet but a lot of money.
Finally, Colbskee do what you want. We have all had experience with Re Speed and fully support the guy but if you feel ground control is the way to go, go for it.
Ground Control is a really nice company and their products a top notch.
Good luck.
