Coil Wire help?

Okay so I am trying to finish wiring up the fuel injection system on my 5.0 swap. I have a print out from a guy that did the same swap on Grannys, and he said that I need to run a wire from the new coil to the thick black and white wire that used to run to the factory mazda coils. I can't seem to find it, but I did find a thicker black and yellow wire with a connecter on the end of it. Would anyone be able to send me a pick of the connector that goes to the coils, so I can see if this is the right wire?

Yes I just need the wire for a "+" crank signal to the coil. The connector looks like it is a 2 pin almost in a "T" shape. So you think that this black and yellow wire might be it? Would that be coming from the ignition tumbler?

a volt meter is a great investment. makes finding those needed +12v wires with the switch on much faster.

I have a volt meter, but I just wanted to know if that was the coil wire or not. But thanks for the suggestion.

kind of, but is there anyway you can actually get a pic of the connector that actually powers the coil?

the connector is just an eyelet secured by a 8mm(5/16) nut.

Thanks for the pics. I don't think that the wire I found is the right one. The guy that owned the car before me had a carbed 351 motor in this car and some of the factory mazda wiring has been cut. I guess I'll have to start looking a little deeper into the car and see if I can find a "+" crank signal from a wire closer to the tumbler.

Might be simpler to try and locate a new engine harness instead of reworking someone else's cobbled mess.

Okay, so in another write up on the swap I found, it said that the wire for the coil should be in a wide flat connector between the brake booster and left shock tower. I found the connector and after pulling some of the tape holding the harness together I found a black wire with a white stripe, that is a bigger guage then the rest of the wire. It says in the write up that there would be 2 of these wires here. There is two wires that are the same gauge, one is the black with white stripe, and the other is black with a red stripe. Would one of these be for the leading coil and one for the trailing coil? If so does it matter which one that I use to power the ford coil?

it wouldn't if both have +12v with switch in both on and start positions. both wires on mine r black/white stripe. since u'll only have the one coil, just use the black/white stripe one. i could look in mine but it's possible that the single wire was split into two at the stock coils since they're both powered together at the same time.

When I deloomed and replaced the coil and ignition wiring in mine, the coil "+" did have a factory splice in it to the other coil.

okay so the black wire with a white stipe had no voltage going to it with the key turned to start or run, but the black wire with the red strip had power going to it in both positions. So am I corret in saying that it dosen't matter which wire I use as long as it has power in start and run positions?

correct. but it will need to be a heavy gage wire like the white/black wire, i think is 10 or 12ga wire?

yes this black and red wire looks to be at least a 12 guage wire. Thanks very much, again.

Should be at least 10 gauge. Coil wire is one of the heaviest wires in entire harness. Same gauge as the wire coming off the alt.
