Clutch slave cylinder install

Hydraulic fluid leaking all over and clutch slipping, so I decide to start by replacing slave cylinder and flexi hose. Got it out OK, but installing is a bear since I can't seem to get the pushrod seated on the clutch lever and get the bottom mounting screw in at the same time.

Anyone got a trick? I don't have it on a lift so I can't crawl under. I thought maybe someway to tape the pushrod onto the cylinder in depressed position, since its SO hard to depress the piston with the stuff in place.

I had to remove the oil filter first to gain access to the slave clutch cylinder. My is an se if it makes any differences.

open the vent on the slave so that it will compress all the way.

then, if you can get one bolt in, push it around, and you'll get the other one in... I didn't have to pull anything out.. just messed around with it a while.

Just line the slave's pushrod up with the dimple for the clutch. Use your fingers to line it up and let it compress. Put the bolts back on but don't tighten them all the way. Just keep feeling for the dimple. It's not that hard. Took me 5 minutes and I bled the clutch by myself with a crowbar.

Opening the vent is smart! I also removed the oil filter (after punching a hole to let air in so it could drain). I fished the bolts in with a lonnng extension and stuck the bolt to the socket with whatever was in my caulk gun.
