Clutch Slave Cylinder

Okay guys I ran into a problem today when I was trying to replace the slave cylinder in my SA today. The problem is, the stock slave cylinder and hydraulic hose are a corse thread pitch and the same goes for the new hydraulic hose. But the new slave cylinder I bought is a fine pitch thread. Anyone else run into this problem? Where have you guys bought your slave cylinders to match the hose? For the record, I bought my slave cylinder for my work(Autozone) and the hose I got from Rock Auto.

Are you sure you bought a slave cylinder for a 79-80? Later years are different.

Yeah it's an SA slave. I even took a look at an S3 slave that we had in stock but it still had the fine pitch thread

I'm not going to dick around with a kit. Everything matched perfect except the threads, cause I noticed the FB slave cylinder has the hose location in a different spot. I guess I'll order another one and see what happens

I won't buy a remanufactured one, I'd rather have a new one so I don't have to worry about taking a chance on something someone else rebuilt

Reman ones still use new pistons and new rubber. The bore is honed and the slave is rebuilt professionally. I wouldn't shun a rebuild.

They are really easy to rebuild yourself anyway.

Yeah you definitely got an FB slave. The SA ones will have the course threads just like with the brakes for an SA.

I have an 80 transmission in my REPU and when my slave cylinder went south, I replaced it with the same but noticed the PO stripped the threads getting the repu hose into the SA slave cylinder. I went to a hydraulic shop with my new slave and old hose and had a new SS braided one made up. It made a 20$ job a 60$ job but at least it looks sharp!

The only hydraulic shop here in town doesn't do brake/clutch work. I already tried LOL. The only one that does is 15 minutes away and closes at 5pm which I am usually at work at the time or getting off at 5

Billy @ respeed could always hook you up but I'd feel better taking the parts in to make sure you finally get what you need. Im sure Rockauto will do you right...

Im not sure that Re-speed deals with "traditional" parts. It seems he deals primarily with high quality aftermarket upgrades.

Got the new slave today and it's right this time. My hub store must have fucked something up when they sent me the first one.

I dont know about that. He made me a set of braided lines for my REPU with some crazy banjo bolt fittings for less than I would have paid local (if they even had those fittings).

Braided lines being a 'performance' upgrade.
