clutch problems
ok so i was driving to get the 7 inspected and
i shifted from first to second and noticed it was a little stuck but then
when i tried going to third it wouldn't go
and there was no pressure in the peddle
so i towed it home and i'm wondering what could have happened
since it was fine before that
and would it be hard to switch clutches if that is the problem

Thats exactly what happened to me about two weeks ago.
It could just be the slave cylinder not going in all the way, if its not that check the master cylinder.
It could be something else but give those a try.

If you can hear a noise when the clutch pedal is depressed (disengaged) a lot of
time it can be the pilot bearing on the tip of the input shaft. But lets not jump to that
yet. Do like these guys suggested and make sure the master and slave are working
because 9 out of 10 times these are the problem.
Usually when a clutch is going you will be in 4th or 5th gear on the highway and
when you press on the go pedal to get it moving faster, instead of speeding up
you'll see or feel the revs climb with no appreciable increase in speed. This is the
clutch slipping. This is usually the first sign even before you see issues in the lower
gears due to the lower hp in those gears the clutch will seem ok. Another slipping
clutch symptom is not being able to shift smoothly into the next gear but that can
also be the symptom of a bad master/slave cylinder as well.
If your hearing noises while the pedal is depressed or your in neutral then it may be
a throwout bearing or the pilot bearing or possibly something internal to the tranny.
That last is least likely.
But first take a look at the master/slave cylinders for the clutch. They're easy to
replace and probably need attention anyway.

i cant believe nobody has mentioned it yet, but make sure the master cylinder is full. Mine has a slow leak that i didnt know about and did exactly what yours has done. I filled it up, pumped on it for about 30 seconds, and it came right back up where its supposed to. the leak isnt bad enough to bother fixing yet, so i just keep it topped off.

I just pulled my clutch assembly to replace it and the transmission and the pilot bearing came out in pieces. Well some of it did. the casing is still inside. Symptoms were a refusal to go into gear at idle unless I forced it, and when it would go into gear I could hear a faint grinding sound. Shifted fine at cruise and accel. Trans is being swapped due to a shot second gear synchro.

DivinDriver gets an A+ for manaul trans class. A Pilot bearing wont affect the pedal feel and a bad throwout bearing(as long as it isnt disintegrated) wont either. Iv'e got ten bucks saying its the slave cylinder, as these cars eat them. Your better off replacing the whole shootin match, cause the master and hose likely aren't far behind. You can get the master, slave, and flexible hose from black dragon for around 90 bucks i believe. Have someone push on the clutch pedal while looking at the slave on the top left of the trans bell housing. If it isnt moving and there is still fluid in the master, then something in the hydraulics gave up the ghost.
