Clutch problem
Ok, 'nuther ? on the SE I just got.
When you hold the clutch in for a long period of time, say, a long stop light, you can feel the engine begin to engage, as if you're letting up. When I do let up, clutch stays close to the floor, I have to pull up on it to get it to work. Normal driving, no problems at all.
I'm thinking clutch cylinder. Bet some of you have had this happen before.
What do y'all think?

Well, technically the leak is a bad part . I would check the slave cylinder, and the hose that connects the master cyliner to the slave cylinder. The master cylinder is simply the small fluid resivor that the clutch fluid goes in, and theres a hard metal line that comes out of it. Then, it turns to rubber and leads down to the slave cylinder. Its on the drivers side close to where the inner fender and firewall meet (black round cap, little round container. The rectangle one is the brake master cylinder). Check those two things for leaks, or signs of leaking. Maybe have someone step on the clutch while you look for a trickle .

I read your email
It's probably either your clutch master cylinder or your slave or maybe a leak in the rubber hose. I vote it's one of the first two. Those parts have a service life of I think 30k miles. Chances are they're in need of replacement. The good news is that both those parts are pretty cheap and aside from that freak'n upper bolt on the master cylinder it's pretty easy to replace. Good luck!

Hey Bill, welcome to my thread and the forum!
Find another good deal on a seven like I did and join in the festivities.
No leaks anywhere, the bleed nipple and everthing else is dry. As much as I'd love to blame you, 'the glove doesn't fit, so I must aquit!'
I got the parts coming tomorrow, I'll knock it out one night this week. I understand the upper bolt will cause me to exclaim several colorful metaphors, but that's half the fun!
