Clutch pedal problems
Clutch pedal problems
This morning when I drove to work everything seemed fine. Then around lunchtime the pedal has very little range and is very soft. It has clutch fluid and no appearent leaks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It will go into gear but with some difficulty.

since youre a n00b ill go easy on you. but next time please use the search feature.
the symptoms you provided sounds like a bad slave. i would change both the slave and master cylinder at the same time and if your hose is bad connecting the slave to the master then i would change that out too.

Is your fluid going down after driving it. I had a problem where the clutch slave boot with the metal rod coming out of it behind the clutch slave was leaking..The part where it pressed on the clutch fork. Also, the clutch hose could be punctured too.
Its not using any fluid at all. Now when I try to bleed the system nothing happens. It will not blow out any fluid at all. Tried for about 30 mins. I am opening the valve having a friend push the pedal in, then closing the valve and having him release the pedal. Also, I have hose attached going into a bottle half-filled with brake fluid. Am I doing something wrong? Gotta fixit tonight for work tomorrow morn.

Well, only turn the bleeder nipple about a 1/4 turn. Then pump three times slowly, but not to slow. On the third one have friend hold down pedal all the way. Then tighten up the bleeder nipple, repeat process until pedal feels good.

try and use teflon tape and wrap it around the thread of the nipple screw when bleeding so you dont suck up any air because your hose will fit over it completely
You will need to go and get your slef a new cylinder basiclly what happened is the ruber seal inside went bad and it will not hold pressure I see that a lot with brake sistems in the earliercars especially SA's
You have a bad internal seal in either the master or clutch. Quit dicking around and replace both of them along with the hose. From my experience, if you replace only one of them, the other will fail within 12 months and you get to do it all over again. For 100-125 bucks, you can be worry free for another 20 years.
trochoid is right. the parts are not that expensive and they are easy enough to replace. save yourself the headache and buy a new slave cylinder and hose and either a new clutch master cylinder or a rebuild kit for the clutch master cylinder.
