You are referring to lambo doors.

I like the look, but I hear they're a PITA to live with -- between the cuts on your forehead from hitting the bottom rear corner of the door and the strained shoulders from reaching up to close it once you're inside.

Before you start thinking of buying a kit that's priced too good to be true from Florida or the Carolina's, go to the Bad Guy board and use the search engine on each of these names..."Protodermis", "Val", "PREACHER" and "Henry"....DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS LOSER !

I personally plan on doing this mod this Summer with the gray RX-7 aptly nicknamed, Furious....

I like it. I don't think it hurts the car's original design intent. In terms of being tacky. It looks sweet and ez on the back to get in and out.

And if you got the arms and shoulders, it's not that big a deal to pull it down on a daily basis...hell, it'll keep your shoulders and neck nice and sharp w/o having to hit the gym...

don't flame me for this but i want to do this for 2 reasons. frist i go to guitar center in boston now and then.they have to have the worst parking spots every and i wouldn't have to worry hitting other cars with lambo doors. second reason my g/f keeps useing her foot to open the door and no matter how many times i tell her not too. she keeps doing hit. shes hit a few car doors allready.

my gf. what?
me ...... open the door with your foot.
gf. what are you talking about?
me....... you dont need to push the door open with you foot.
gf........ (eye's drop look of angry and thinking) whats you problem i never do any thing right do i?

pfft...those doors are NOT heavy - try an 80's GM two-door like a GN or even more so, a Delta 88...I can position the Rx-7's door with one hand and tighten the bolts with the other...it is NOT heavy.

85 cutlass two-door is the same as a GN - it's an intermediate. The Olds Delta 88 is a full size and even bigger.
As far as kits, they make generic kits that you custom install - I doubt there is enough of a market to make a "Rx-7 ricer door kit" :P
