Clutch master cylinder

Does anyone know if a master cylinder for an 81 will work on an 85. I have one for an 81 but need one for my 85.

I really don't know for sure, but I'd bolt it up and try it. It's just 2 nuts in the footwell and the push rod on the clutch pedal.

Would the 85' hardline mate up with the 81' cylinder?

I would think so. They couldn't have moved the clutch master cylinder, since it's position is decided by where the clutch pedal is. I doubt they changed the size of the fitting. So my guess is that it would all fit fine.

Does the 81 have rear discs or drums? The replacement masters are different for these. If you've got GSLs, it would probably work. PS, Terry, the Turd is running strong, just passed 170,000.

Correct 81-85 same all with drum brakes. 81-83 same with rear disc and 84-85 same with
disc brakes. Most fittings are different for each variation listed. Don't try interchanging, brakes are the one thing you dont screw around with!!!!! rx7doctor

Boy did i blow that one, i just noticied the thread, clutch master, duh, lol. 81-83 the same,
84-85 12a same and 84-85 13b same. I remember someone posting that you can interchange if you change the clutch hose. But its such a awkward part to change that i would recommend getting the correct one. Also did you verify your slave was not leaking? rx7doctor

Yep, that'd be a clutch master cylinder, my mistake. The brake ones are different, the clutch ones might be the same, but the doctor knows.
