yeah, I'll get some of those for next time. Right now I don't have a new hard line, so I'm just gonna re-use it till I get home in a few weeks and I'll order a new one from mazda. Vice grips worked though, I should finish up the installation right when I get back from work. Thanks everybody!

hmmm... it's all installed now, and bled, but the clutch still feels kinda weak. I can't press it down with just one finger, but I can do it with two. (pointer finger and middle finger). Should I be able to do this? I don't see any bubbles in my system at all anymore. Maybe I'm just used to a stronger clutch?

somthing's fishy though, it just feels a little too weak.

sugguestions? comments?

It seems weakr than before you put in the new hydros?
Or it was weak and you were expecting the new hydros to fix it? You clutch could just have a light pedal. OR your pressure plate is getting worn out or something like that.

it seemed weak (but the car is relatively new to me) so maybe it wasn't and I just thought it was... the clutch itself was replaced last year, so I would assume that it is in decent shape. Meh, I won't worry about it and we'll see what happens

If you push the pedal all the way down, and the slave cylinder pushes the fork a decent distance, I wouldn't worry about it too much, as long as you're not griding through the gears

After my recent replacement of clutch disk, pressure plate, TOB, and Pilot Bearing, I found that the new clutch hydraulics that I'd installed about 2 months prior weren't a factor in the overall clutch 'pedal effort' - or the weight of the clutch pedal when shifting.

The biggest change is from the pressure plate and disk being new. With new parts in place, the pedal went from heavy/solid to a very light and very comfortable pressure to drive all day in stop and go traffic. A big improvement.

Something tells me that the replacement of the tranny front cover and seal also helped, plus liberal greasing of the TOB where it slides on the front cover housing. Anyway, your hydraulic swap shouldn't have altered your pedal effort noticeably - you may still have some air in the lines which leads to a soft pedal.

I'd be willing to bet that it is the new clutch, and I mistook that for a weak hydraulic system. BUT, My new system is much better, no rust, and I like the looks of the braided clutch line, so if nothing else, at least I got a bit of a visual upgrade . I kindof enjoy a pretty heavy clutch, but I will get used to this one pretty quickly. My dad used to have about 4-5 1972 datsun Z's and used to set up the clutch so light that he could push it down with his pinky, and he got rid of the assist spring, so it was pretty much instant... that probably would have been TOO weak for me, but I digress.

Today my RX-7 gets on the road legally!!!!! !!!!!!!!!
