Clutch?

I got a 85 GSL with stock 12A and tranny. I drove it to my buddies house only about 2 miles away, it drove fine and I parked it. About an hour later I hop on it and my clutch was about half way gone, by the time I get to my house I had maybe 1/2 an inch of movement left in my clutch, I damn near stalled it out on my drive way cuz of it, keep in mind I baby the car, any ideas of what the hell my cause this sudden loss of clutch?

Diagnosis:
1. Have a mate pump clutch till you get pressure
2. Have them hold it to the floor
3. Watch the slave cylinder to see if it begins to move back on its own, if yes then take the cap off the master resivoir and repeat 1&2 and look for bubbles in the resivoir as the slave comes back, if yes again then the master is bad.
4. Pull carpet back inside the car and look to see if the back side of the master is wet, if yes, master is bad.
5. Look at slave cyl, if there is a fluid leak in or around the slave then the slave is bad.
6. Check the flex hose for a tear or a leak somewhere.

Repairs:
1 & 2: Replace Master and Slave [always good to be done in pairs]
3. Stainless Braided Clutch line for a bit of bling.

pull the boot back on the slave to see if there's fluid there. problem is definitely slave or master cylinder. best to replace both, and the flex line. and u bleed it same as u would the brakes.

RockAuto.Com almost always has amazing prices on the more common products and with the warehouse closeouts and such you can REALLY get a good deal though your gonna have to account for shipping because sometimes the products must be shipped from different locations:
Master Cyl as low as $11.74
Slave Cyl as low as $9.65 [warehouse closeout]
Rubber Flex Hose: $10.90

Mazda Trix:
Stainless Braided Line: $18

You don't really have to replace both, it's just good practice. You can replace just the slave and you'll probably be fine.

I tried that route & I needed to replace master cylinder within a year anyhow. If you can afford to replace master, slave & hose.
