Check the fuse box under the dash by the drivers door.

If its not the fuse, it the logicon (I think thats what its called) they commonly go out and you would need to replace it.

if your fuse is good it could be the motor or i had a problem on my 84 were the contacts broke off the push button selector due to cold solder joints resoldered them and now it works fine

no there is a motor that drives the lever from defrost to vent, etc not the blower motor the linkage is on the drivers side in the center where the mix box fwd of the heater core

Gives your dash a few good raps with your fist.... No joke.

Sometimes the actuators that control the vent doors in the heater box that direct the flow of air get sticky. Also try cycling through the the modes of vent to deforst and back again. Sometimes this frees things up. That's if things are sticky.

My car sits for long stretchs between being driven so things don't work as they should at first but eventually start working again.

If thats not your issue then check all the conectors and the acuators and continuity for any electrical issues
