1) charcoal canister is for emissions. It was supposedly recalled and supposed to be replaced. (Don't know the truch of it). I believe it vents the gas tank. It should be connected to a steel tube which runs all the way to the back of the car.

2)Thats for cruise control.

3)Yes you can. No sure about emmisions inspections in your area though.

No emissions, so the charcoal canister can go no questions asked?

I want to keep the cruise control, but i dont think it even works. I'll have to figure it out.

Thanks!!

charcoal canister absorbs fuel vapors from fuel system and moisture that rises up from the oil. i also believe the gas tank vapors to it. it doesn't weight that much so i'd leave it. just be glad it isn't in the carb lid like the sa's.

weight isnt significant, but i want to clean out the engine bay.

Is it doing anything vital to my engine's well being?

I would keep the charcoal canister if I were you. It absorbs fuel vapors and fumes. If you remove it your cabin will smell like gas all the time.

I had removed my canister for a while but i decided to put it back. It smelled of heavy gas. I just relocated it to right below where the cruise control used to be.

You said you have no air pump or cats, did you wire your 6 ports open?
