Classic Knucklehead Aussie
OK Trochoid this ones for you
Today i rewired my earthing problem on my Carter, it was a non issue and started working fine after my wiring job except the car wouldn't start.
Had some fuel in the lines, could hear the pump running, not flooded, car would even try to kick, WTF.
I'm flumoxed at this point, got gas, got air, got spark......duhhh
I tried several things to no avail so thinking I had burnt up yet another Carter I pulled the fuel lines, put some fuel into a container and used a second container to catch any fuel pumped.
Started to crank and she blew bubbles into the fuel conatiner....OMG
Swapped the power and ground wires and she started actually pumping gas instead of sucking it.......
What a freaking dweeb.
Steve
Let the cheap seats speak now.....

The department head when I went back to college the last time had a favorite saying.
'We learn more from making mistakes than doing it right the first time.'
I have found this to be very true. When one does a task, makes a mistake, error, they are unsuccessful, whatever, they have to think about what they did and why it doesn't work. In the long run it brings more understanding to how things work, and why they work the way they do.
Over the years I have worked with so many people that have done a task the same way, over and over. When I would ask why it was done that particular way, the standard answer was, 'Because that's they way we do it', with absolutely no understanding of how/why the process or task they were doing even worked at all.
When one finds understanding behind a process or task, especially in the trades, those learned skills and knowledge can easily transfer to other processes or tasks and greatly increase one's skill set.

I had a science teacher who was the opposite of your department head, many moons ago, she would explain something by rote, when I questioned her reasoning, she would repeat her previous statement "Word for word" She didn't even know what she was teaching, just memorized the text.
She pissed me off royally and I went on strike, in year 10 science class, I had the whole freaking faculty down on me after that one, I learned how to **** off the man that day.
Can you say antidisestablishmentarianism....

Those kind of teachers are the worst. Problem is, most of the students are smarter than the teacher and they hate being challenged. They are a danger to our educational system because they tend to stiffle/kill, any kind of independent or creative thinking.
What, no dictionary or Google handy?
It is a longwinded word meaning rebelious against the norm/establishment. We all go through it, except the few unfortunates that listen to and heed everything thier parents tell them.

Robert has a constitutional right to eat chedar.
If the State takes away that right it disestablishes him.
I believe Robert has the freedom of all rotaryheads to eat chedar. I believe it is his God given right. Thus, I am an antidisestablishmentarist!
Ha! I have more "old fart screws up" stories LOL After I had driven my car 1600 miles to break in the engine and started getting on it to see what she would do, it just wouldn't go anywhere. Sounded good, ran good, but just wouldn't get up and go. Then I found that I had the ignitors connected backwards, leading to trailing, and trailing to leading. DOH! And then I found out that when I rebuilt the carb in my '79 I reversed the jets in one of the float bowls...I wonder why it was running so rich? Double DOH!
I just bought an SE and will be swapping the rear end into my blown GS...I hope I don't install it backwards!
