Clarification on clutch for 84 GSL-SE tranny

Now, I remember hearing that the internals of the 83-88 5-speed trannys (n/a) were the same. Or something along those lines. My question is, if I bought a clutch intended for an 86 n/a tranny, will it fit in my 84 GSL-SE tranny without any problems?

I hope the answer is yes, because I have a pretty damn good deal lined up. Thanks guys, appreciate it.

Yes.

Any N/A tranny will bolt right up. The only issues with the clutch is clutch size... '82-earlier flywheels need a 215mm clutch, cars '83-later need a 225mm clutch. But the input splines are the same so the trannies will swap.

When you say 83 later, you mean 83 to when? 88?

Thanks, working out the details of the transaction as we speak (as we type, maybe?).
