Clanking coming from brake master cylinder

I've been noticing a clanking sound which seems to be coming from the brake master cylinder when I first depress the pedal, but that strange thing is, it only does it when (or immediately after) I'm backing up. Anybody else have, or had this problem?

Are you sure its the MC ? ... sometimes the pads catch on the rear disks when I'm backing up ... that makes a weird noise somtimes but never from the master cylinder

P.S I'm from Lincoln too ... I don't think we'll be bumping into each other though !

lol Well, it seems to be coming from just in front of the firewall, and I don't have rear disc brakes. It really sounds like something's loose, not just clanking.

They named a town after Abe Lincoln over in England land? Why? Because he abolished slavery and they reconised that too?

I think you'll find its the other way round ... Lincoln UK got its name from the Roman Colony called Lindum Colnium ... shortened to Lincoln .. it nearly became the capital city at one point !

I've not got a clue what could cause the knocking noise ... could be the front pads I suppose ?

My front brake pads are a bit loose in their carrier and my rotor is just slightly warped. As a result, I get a click...click...click outa my front brake pads. My temporary fix is the turn the volume up on the radio but I'm planning on getting better pads soon.

I get the knock whenever I'm rolling forward, have just let off the clutch and I push on the brake.

Nothing has fallen off or broken yet... So I dunno.
