choke issues

hey,

Lately when i pull out the choke and let it warm up, for the first 45 seconds - 1 minute it keeps the engine at a steady 2000 RPMs. But after that first minute or so, the idle gets lower and lower. The choke **** is staying out all the way, but the idle drops and sometimes low enough so that the engine dies. I don't really know whats going on..and yea, im a big newb. Is something going on with the cable? Any help would be great.

thanx

Dont feel bad my choke somehow got fried and now after the smoke cleared in the cab, my cable is stuck solid. I had a similar problem with my car. All I did was replace the carb and all was good again.

oh, that sucks.

but...are you saying i should replace my entire carb? I don't really think thats necessary...
The car runs perfectly, carb is great. Only problem is while its warming up, the choke doesn't keep the RPMs up...

i have the same problem. So far i think i have it attributed to a vaccume leak on the hose that the AABV went to on the intake mani. I am now just waiting on a nikki carb spacer.

i've been reading, and i think thats right.
I have something to add though. Im pretty sure my rats nest has been removed. When you do that, isn't the AABV removed? (what does the AABV do, anyway?)
I thought that might important to mention...

Mine will do sort of the same so that I have to keep my foot on the gas to keep it at a steady 2k rpms until it warms up a bit, then it stays there until the choke goes back in. If I don't keep my foot on the pedal for the first couple of minutes, it will slowly die.

adjust the two screws on the drivers side of your carb. one on the left is for fuel mixture the one up a little higher on the right is for idle. try setting your idle a little higher and adjusting the fuel one until the engine sounds like its idling right. and make sure your timing is set right

i know i had a similar prob with the choke stalling out my car when i first got it (not even a month ago) and right now its idling perfect since i played around with that.

if all else fails, rebuild the carb. another thing on my to-do list
