Check out these emission numbers

I finaly registered my 85 today. My god my numbers turned out well.

HC (PPM) Limit 385 Test: 36
CO% Limit 1.23 Test .28
NOx (PPM) Limit 2692 Test 238

Then I see what other people have and I wonder if my car is a fluke when it comes to testing. I have done minimal work (i.e. Bonez cat and racing beat muffler) besides that its just a tune up and new CO sensor. Chack my web page for more info on that stuff.

I was told that the o2 sensor doesn't really make that much of a difference if i pulled it out? As LongDuck would say it's there for a reason.

Here is the reading I got when I bought my 85 gsl-se 183.000km
stock cats

HC ppm limit 125 reading 65
CO% limit .70 reading .29
NO ppm limit 1416 reading 111
rpm 2144
Dilution 15.08

Alot tighter limits here in Ontario
but after 20 years old cars don't
have to be tested anymore.

Well, at least that inspires hope. I haven's passed emissions yet.... therefore, I cannot register my car in TN which means I'm running on expired PA tags. My 7 is my daily driver so I have to be careful not to get pulled over.

So John, you said you got those readings with Bonez cat and RB muffler? I was thinking about doing something like that... i think I'm having a small exhaust leak as well. How does your SE run with that exhaust system?

I got similar #'s with my GSL-SE. All I did to it was add a K&N filter, change the oil, spark plugs and wires. The rest of the car is stock. Not bad for a 19 year old car with the original parts still on and apperently working well.

the muffler really wont do anything for emissions. The aftermarket cat is probably much better than the stock cat that had 80's emissions technology. the aftermarket cat uses current emissions technology and is probably more freeflowing!

One more Question John. Did You notice any performance gain after going to the new
high flow cat?.

And were the old ones leaking or plugged?

my cars numbers as of october of 2003, with a rb header, miller performace 3 way cat, and rb muffler running a full rats nest with worn out spark plugs:

NOx: limit: 1577 reading: 357
HC: limit: 203 reading: 69
CO%: limit: 1.15 reading 0.00 (yes thats right, not a damn thing)

I drove with no sticker for several months because it wouldn't pass for **** while I saved up for my exhast system, and man was I surprised when I saw those numbers.
