Thats pretty cool! I bought a "new" carb for my pinto a while back it sat on the shelf for so long it still needed a rebuild! But in all honesty it had been sitting for 30+ years

Meh. My carb looked basically that good after a decent cleaning. With a good rebuild kit, there's nothing on these carbs that should be worn out enough to warrant a whole new unit.

How can he say they are impossible to find? You can order them through Rockauto for just over $400.00

well, I bought an NOS 81+ Nikki off ebay for about $175. But it included a part number, so I knew exactly which one I was getting. It was for an automatic, which gave me pause (and seemed to have discouraged much bidding). But Carl at PB&J assured me it would be a perfect core for his Nikki-mod and would work fine on my 80/manual. Meant I was ahead the rebuild cost of sending a used 81+ carby to him (he doesn't mod the 79-80 carbs). I would certainly want to more specifics about this carb's viintage rather than "70-80s" time frame to be sure you could actually use it.

I don't know about you guys, but this doesn't look exactly like a stock FB Nikki to me.

The idle speed/mixture screws look like those off a '79-80, and while I can see the little spot where the omp rod fits (suggesting it is in fact for an Rx7) I don't think it's worth anywhere near what the seller is asking.

agreed, do not buy that. waste o' money. just send yours off to rx7carl and he will make it look better than that for the same price if not less if you are just looking for a "like new" carb. WOOOOT to pb&j!!!!

Doesn't look that new to me. Whenever I've cleaned and rebuilt a carby they look that good. I don't thinks its worth 200 bucks. You can go to a junkyard, pull on for 50, rebuild it for 50 and have as good a carby for half the price. Rebuilds aren't that hard, lots of carb cleaner, scrubbing, new soft parts, and attention to detail. Takes a couple of hours usually.
