Yeah it's either an 84 or an 85. If you had an 81 S the dash would be different and you would have steel wheels with hubcaps(if the hubcaps would still be there). I have an 83 S and mine still had the hubcaps on it LOL. Swapped them out for the alluminum ones though.
S1 is the SA which was 1979-1980. The S2 was 1981-1983 and S3 was 1984-1985. Just minor differences between them really. If you search in the 1st Gen FAQ page they have a section on explaining it.

im not sure what you mean by that but i just fergot about my registration papers, so i looked at it and it said 1981, but theres still a problem, this means my interios doesnt match my year
Go out to your car, look at the top of the dash through your windscreen, forward of the steering wheel, you should see a little plack with your VIN on it. then look at your firewall, on the passenger side, in the engine bay, or the driver's side doorjam for the VIN. See if they match up. And it'll also tell you the year of the car (and dash).
haha thanks, so i either have a 84 or a 85 GSL? it has air conditioning, cruise control, power mirrors, power windows, it does have disc brakes, it has powder coated alloy rims, and rear windsheild wipers, do these features come with a certain year, this might help to slove it
Yup those are all the standard features on the GSLs. Best model made in my opinion, probably because I have three of them. It's hard to tell the 84s and 85s apart unless you have registration information, but it doesn't really matter because the two years are essentially identical. Good luck with the projects, here's a web page on my 84-85 GSLs, which I use for the 110 mile per day commute and like to keep pretty much stock:
