Cheap GSL-SE on ebay!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6783

For a running GSL-SE, with such a clean body and interior, I think the price is not bad at all.

You don't need a title for parts

$475 is just about equal to a full suspension setup and glass sunrooof.

Could probably turn a profit by parting it out.

I guess it's a moral issue as well. Everyone's morals are different, but unless the car is proven to not be stolen, I wouldn't want to profit from someone else's possible misfortune...I know I'd hate to have my 7 stolen. Granted, it sound's like a GREAT deal, but not for me!
Out...

In some states it is illegal to buy or sell a car without a title, even for parts.

Heheh. You know that a lot of people who are "parting out" cars are doing it because they don't have a title or it has a lien it... right?

haha... good point. Well, if it is stolen the guy either has big ***** or is just really really stupid. I vote stupid 'cause he puts in on eBay and then only wants local people to buy it. Why didn't he just park it in his front yard with a sign on it or advertising in his local classifieds?

Believe it or not it happens every day. Stolen items are spotted on ebay constantly.

A lien... basically a claim on the title of someone else's property if they don't pay a debt. When I say title I don't really mean the peice of paper, but the actual ownership of the car. There's all sorts: a loan to buy it, the car is put for collateral, a mechanic works on it and doesn't get paid, etc. So the car can't be sold or "titled" (as in, the paperwork) easily or at all unless the debt is taken care of first. So, instead of paying it off they chop the car up and sell the parts.

Edit: Basically, if you have a car with a lien on it, you have possession but not (full) ownership. Chopping it up or selling it "without a title" is uncool.

Speaing of liens, a mechanic's or storage lien is one way to get a title. At least in some states, you can apply for a title to a vehicle which you have a lien against. The vehicle does not have to be chopped up for parts but can be re-sold with a legal title.
