changing a 3 speed auto to a 4 speed auto overdrive

hi!!!
as you all can see that i have a few "automatic" 7s. ok hear it is... i have the 82 (with the back seat) 3 speed auto, and do a lot of hiway driving and the thing turns tooo many rpm's for me.... what i was wanting to know is...is the automatic overdrive tranny out of a 84-85,is the same as the second gen (86-88 ) that it mite fit the 82 that i have.. or will i need the 84-84 tranny instead...any ideas.....i have a couple extra 2nd gen autotrannys but no 1st gen overdrive trannys.... wat ya think???? thanx wam

Sounds like it will work but im sure you will have to fab some form of mounts . But im not a "guru" so id wait till i heard one of them chime in.

i'll say it first! get a 5spd manual! you get sooooo much more out of the engine with a manual vs an automatic. if you're stuck on automatics, sorry... don't know what'll fit offhand.
