Carburetor Help

I'm rebuilding the Nikki on my 84 rx7 and I saw that when I tore it down, a piece was missing. I checked the diagram and it isn't even mentioned to take out or anything but there are two in the diagram but one in my carb. What is it, is it important, and can I get another one?

Look down in the float bowls. Is there a corresponding brass fitting on both sides? Or just one side?

Next question. Were you planning to install the stock needles and seats back in the air horn? Or were you going to temp fate and try the new ones that come in all rebuild kits these days?

Are those springy things in both the earlier model carbs and the latter ones? I have them in my 79 top, but I'm using the 84 body so they just kinda press up against nothing. My 84 top doesn't have them.

Also, WTF do they do??

Jeff20b, in the float bowls (I have no clue wtf that is but I'm assuming it's that pit where these things lead to) there is a piece that this looks like it attached to or presses against on one side, but on the other side there is just a hole. This hole looks like it could possibly hold another piece to make it symmetrical to the other side but I'm not certain. This is my first carburetor rebuild and I'm only rebuilding it because the man I bought the engine from said it was acting funny/didn't run properly.

Qingdao, in all honesty I cannot answer that. I have an 84 and it appears to be an all stock carburetor.. except for the shenanigans happening with these "spring poles".
