The problem is everyone wants it, but very few ever have the $$$ to get it. Its like in the past everyone wanted a CF hood but when a list for pre-orders was made very few guys stepped up and actually bought the hoods. Sad but true.

What about that thread that norwegian rotary started? He's made a full composite kit for his first gen.
I'm sure he'd have some valuable information if someone was to spend some time talking to him?

I originally thought the vented ones would be coming out first, or at the same time as the stock ones. I saw pics of the vented hoods long ago and always wanted one. It didn't make sense to me to drop $700 on a CF stock hood - the weight savings isn't much unless you're building a race car and REALLY need to save ever ounce, and I don't buy CF for "the look". The vent is practical and that's the reason I haven't yet ordered a hood - vented ones not available yet.
I won't buy an OEM CF hood just for the sake of buying it, even if that's what's necessary to generate the revenue needed to further R&D on the vented ones. I'm not made of money, unfortunately.
So my money went to a ReSpeed steering rack conversion, 83LE rims, RB Swaybars, Ron Davis Aluminum Rad etc.. etc... I mean when I want something I save up and spend the cash but in this case there isn't a compelling enough reason to drop the dough on a CF hood.

Sam an I have been holding out for the vented hoods also. There was a teaser of the mold posted awhile ago, but since then I've seen nothing related to it. In fact I've been waiting for one simply so I can get my keyed stocker off there, since I don't have the money to have it resprayed. I was thinking maybe we should see if Billy at RE-Speed is interested in going into composites for the 1st gen. He always seems capable of delivering.

If there were to be a Turbo II hood made from carbon fiber I would drop $5-600 on it. But only if it was the Turbo II style with the scoop off centered like the original to the right if you are looking at it head on.
Turbo II carbon fiber hood + off centered scoop like the original = $$$ --> your hand.
It is a no brainer!

You are very right there. I haven't even come close to recovering the money spent to make molds and get them to the USA
