Talking Carbon Fiber kit

I am currently in the market to create my very own carbon fiber kit to fit my 85'SE. I don't like the m-1 kit because of its generic look and the deletion of the lower lip that gives the SE its individuality. I was wondering if anyone has tried to make a kit or would possibly want to give some information on the best execution of fenders. I have went as far as making my own vacuum pump, http://www.dream-models.com/eco/vacuumpump.html#N100A7 here are good instructions if you want to beat me to the kit creation race and have your own creation. I will soon be purchasing carbon fiber and Kevlar. I will most likely create a hood and whatever strikes my fancy. If anyone knows where to get a good carbon fiber kit so I don't have to create my own then by all means tell me before I get started on mine. If not I will be posting step by step instructions as I go along. I'm keeping in mind that I've never done this before but it's going to be fun. If anyone likes my finished product I hope to get a KAAZ two way slip so anyone know someone with hook ups then..pwese share.

I know FIBERMAZ has the carbon fiber hood, panel with the windshield washer nozzles and the healight covers. All we need is the panel between the headlights the fenders and body kit and we could have a carbon fiber front end conversion. I would buy one in a heartbeat if it were available.

CF parts all ready in production:

FIBERMAZ = OEM Hood, OEM Head light covers, OEM Windshield washer/vent panel.

You my friend Could = fenders, header panel, Full Body kit with bumper replacements!!!

There's a few links to get you started. I've studied and researched the subject because I've been interested in doing something similar but I just don't have the time at the moment. I will someday soon. Good luck with the project, and keep us informed of the results...

Sigh, no offense, but so many new users come on here and propose all these great ambitious ideas for us first geners. And they never seem to become reality. I am all for it and good luck, but i will believe it when i see it

True, it seems like Billy/respeed is the only one who actually comes through with new parts.
A few others have gotton as far as the production stage but supply is sporadic at best... It's a shame....

For real, that seems to be the case. I don't understand it either. Re-speed managed to make some pretty sweet mods such as changing the circular for pinion therefore making the 1st gen a much better handling vehicle overall which I will install once I get my carbon fiber stuff done. It may be that the uni body design is hard to get off the car. Or it's most likely since they may not make much of a profit since not many 1st geners want to go carbon fiber. I personally want to make a kit for my car because I want it lighter and it'll be cheaper for me to make my kit than get some company involved that will charge me tons. Perhaps it may be because a group of us don't get together with a lump of money and try a group buy for a bunch of kits. At any rate it's my project and I'm going to see it through one way or another. Money is a factor and for now I have enough to make the fenders. I still have to think up a way to mount the pieces. When that's done I have to design what the holding pieces will look like or something and what I'll replace, wheel wells, the area around the engine bay, pieces of the engine. The hard part is getting enough material at a low price, tons of it, multi layer everything with atlest 7 layers and probably cook it. I may even just replicate the original body with more earo involved and make it a multy detachable body for a mechanical look. I'll attach drawings of what I have in mind once I get the time to finish it. I'll include concept sketches of what in theory may en up being more manageable than whole huge pieces. That way I can space the project out in a timely manner and get it done right. If anyone can post diagrams of dissected bodies of both the FB and FC then it would be very helpful for me. My SE's body isn't bad but it's been raining and I don't have a space to pull it apart since I live in an apartment. I do have the means to make a kit though.

It's quite sad to see even Ford Aerostar vans from the 90's with body kits and then think of our predicament...the industry must know we're a bunch of cheap-a$$ skin flints...

I think things are starting to change for 1st gen 4 the win. Next year even the 85's built in 84 will be classic so all of SA/FB will be classic's.

The prices will rise 4 sure.

There in lies the problem, if they're collector's pieces, will a full carbon fiber kit diminish the value?

Value? My car has value?

Actually, anything pre-88 has no agreed upon (as far as kbb) value even with 0 miles and showroom condition. the good thing is, you can't diminish from zero. That is, unless you include the money I've spent on modifications and improvements

That is quite pathetic haha.... Oh well, we have enough aftermarket support to keep us going, still would be nice to have a few more things available....
