Carbd turbo question

for those of you using a carburated turbo setup i have a question. Do you still use your omp or do you use premix. also would it be ok to premix with that setup and what if i have a fuel cell? or even a fuel cell with foam ?

You can do either one. Depending on your setup, you will probably need to modify the carb or intake manifold if you want to use the OMP. The fuel cell doesn't affect anything.

It's a safe assumption that if it's compatible with gas, it's compatible with oil.

i honestly don't know **** about fuel cells. are you saying that there is foam inside the cell that gets soaked in gas? if so i'd be worried about the oil sticking to the foam. other than that its always best to premix. and you need to use the right setup to use the MOP, because the MOP alone does not have enough pressure to work under boost. you need the oil injectors from the T2 that reference vacuum and boost. in reality you waste time and money setting up a MOP system that will never be as good as premix.

yeah they sell the fuel cells with or without foam. the foam is used to keep the gas from sloshing around when you are racing. since i really am only going to race occasionally i will probably just go with the tank that doesnt have foam so that way i dont have to worry about the oil interfearing.

I have ben pre-mixing my Holley Blow-Thru TII motor since I built it and NO issues...
I use 1oz for every gallon of gas.

You shouldn't have any issues as premix is the prefered method of lubrication... **** you'd have to be tarded to mess up premix. I drove around when oil was cheap premixing 1 quart per fill up.. lol that's 2+ oz per gallon. Motercycles hated following me!

I'm too lazy to look for the thread, but one of the FC guys actually hooked up a pressure gauge to his OMP lines and it went quite high (like 100 PSI, IIRC) before the gauge popped out of the line.

I think what he's saying is the oil won't get to the engine under boost because the oil will be forced back into the line under boost. So when the engine needs it most is when it won't get any because the oil is basically dripping and not under very much pressure coming from the metering pump.

you know, this is what I was told by 2 diffrent shops when I went turbo on my last FB, so I'm not willing to risk it... Look in the FSM I'm sure it lists what the pressure is if it's at least 14.7 more psi than the boost you're running then you might be okay. I personally wouldn't risk it. Just premix it lubes better than engine oil and it burns cleaner....
