Carb term queastion
Carb term queastion
This is gonna sound extremely stupid but I have never delt with carbs but I own one know so I've been reading up alot about them. What does IDA and DCOE stand for, I know it has to refer to how the carb/manifold is setup but I don't know what they actually mean.

Please don't post if you have no sense of humor. Afterall, it's not like this question hasn't been asked already. Every month.
And so now, you can search just like everyone else.

I have a big sense of humor but when it comes to cars I'm always serious, but I did search and couldn't find anything (I always search to my best ability b4 asking questions). Thanks for the help, that link gave me the info I needed.

This is a quote from the book Weber Carburetors by Pat Braden.
"The letters immediiately following the prefix refer, in Italian, to the general type of the carburetor. Only a few terms are consistent: DC means doppio corpo (double throat); V means Verticale and O means orizzontale (vertical and horizontal, respectively). The I in IDA seems to mean invertito, or inverted. Yet, there are no up-draft, or inverted Webers: the IDA is a downdraft.Other even less consistent single letter designations are:
E - Die cast carburetor
F - Ford or Ferrari application
V - carburetor with a power valve
A - Water operation automatic choke.
end quote
That is about all I could find on the subject, it seems like the lettering for webers is pretty random other than the DCOE. DCOE = doppio corpr orrizontal die cast (double throat horrizontal die cast).
