Carb suggestions

My '83 7 runs like **** no power at all, I can't even burn them more that five ft.

I've got a totaled '85 GSL that runs perfect only problem is its got a small oil leak with 105,xxx gets sideways into third(if that matters)

The '83 doesn't leak at all but has almost 150,xxx

I'm debating on swaping the carbs between the two or just swaping in the motor from the GSL.

Give me some ideas.

if i were you.... take apart the 2 12a's, should have 2 decent rotor housings out of the 2, well, maybe not if they are both beehive. buy a rebuild video and rebuild kit and put it back together. porting optional but strongly recommended. buy an intake/carb setup, a nice exaust, and your power woes are over. use the 85 rotors, they are lighter.
**** i forgot your question now..? something about stock carb, 150k, oil leaks..... sounds shitty.
swap the rear end out of the 85 while your at it.

Been there...

I just need a new carb now!

Midwest 7's, I agree with you completely.

might I add step 2:

STEP 2: Buy Turbo, intercooler, and misc accesories.

swap the entire motor over if you think your 83 is low on compression. i dont see how swapping carbs is going to help unless the one on your 83 is totally messed.

I'd rebuild BUT:

1) No time between trying to get rid of four vehicles, work, and college.

2) No $$$$ I make around $800 a month and after bills and 8 mpg in my truck doesn't leave much left over

3) My other project a 1970 Ford. Its first on the to do list, this car is going to be a daily driver so I just want stock for now reliable, no payments other than insurance and gas.

I'm planning on a complete rebuild after college; large street port, full exhaust, either a supercharger or a turbo don't want FI so still debating, -SE axles/spindles, full suspension, strut bars.

I just want a daily driver untill college is done.

Sounds like you need a tune up and/or a compression test.

I've tried tuning it up, its got the dizzy, wires, plugs, and all the rest of the stuff from the 85 and it still runs like crap. Drained the tank and put fresh in. Is the fuel pump supposed to run constantly while the engine is off (Tank just over 1/4 full). Timed it.

When it gets over 5k the throttle will stick, had the thought of the carb swap as soon as that happened, then thought of the mileage difference and maybe the whole engine swap.
