carb rebuild kit question

My RX7 has been siting for ten years. The gas is obviously bad and I am going to run through teh carb and clean it out. My question is, since the car was put up beacsue the idiots didnt know how to time the thing(the car was running fine), should I just buy a seal rebuild kit or the full on rebuild kit. I am trying to get this running on a budget, but I dont want to do less than I should. Also, where shoudl I get it from? mazdartix has a full rebuild kit for $70 and a seal rebuild for $20. Victoriabritish has one for $30, I assume its a full rebuild as they say. This beleived to be an 81 or 82 motor, the exhaust is 81-82 and it has teh rings sround the spark plugs so that means 81+.

Any of the kits should have what you need. Mainly you need to replace the seals/gaskets when you put it back together. The internal hard parts dont generally wear out. They just need a thorough cleaning.

I wouldn't recommend the Victoria British kit. I got one from there and ended up throwing it away and getting another one from Advance Auto Parts. I think it was a GP Sorensen kit. It had aluminum washers instead of the cheap fiber washers the VB kit had.

If its been sitting that long you msotly have to deal with the fact that the old gas has now become varnish or some kind of goo in yoiur system. You need to:

- Clean your tank out ( might be possible to just put some seafoam and new gas in for starters )

- Pull the carb and after the tank sets with this in it awhile, turn the key and let the fule pump dump a gallon or so of whats in the tank. That may get the worst of it out. You can wait an do this after you've rebuilt the carb, giving some extra time for the seafoam to do its thing in the old gas.

- Now repalce your filter

- Completely disassemble your carberator, clean it in solvent real good. Using an air compressor helps
a lot. Then rebuild the thing replacing all the soft parts ( gaskets, orings, what have ya). If you can soak it in a bowl of carb cleaner that will help get the nasty deposits out. Pros use an agitator that holds the solvent with the carb submerged in it.

I would go with the mazdatrix kit over VB if it was me.
