Carb questions... name that part!

Okay, I took a picture of my carb, and I'm cleaing my engine bay, removing all useless emissions crap, making it all tidy and neat. I know some of the stuff sitting on the sides of the carb has to be useless emissions stuff that doesnt help anything... but I dont know what each individual thing is.

So, carb experts, NAME THAT PART! Letters indicate vaccuum parts and whatnot, Numbers indicate hoses. What are they all, what do they all do, and can they be removed?

Thanks for the help.

a,d and f are choke, it doesnt get cold in michigan so you dont need that.

g is the altitude compensatore

e is an anti backfire thing, toss it fire is cool

c is the dash pot, it keeps the throttle from slamming shut.

A- choke delay- remove it and the hoses and cap the openings (3 of them)
B- Throttle opener, keep if you have A/C (it bumps up the idel when you turn on the A/C) Aslo keep the solenoid the hose runs to.
C- Dashpot- remove and throw as far as you can LOL.
D- Choke heater- remove, unplug and toss with salad dressing. Wire the tab that used to stick in the heater hole to the arm or lever so the choke will operate.
E- AAB a.k.a. Anit-Afterburn Valve (#2 IIRC)- remove if your removing emissions, see the tutorial on this one.
F- choke opener- remove and cap vac opening
G- Altitude compensator- can be removed, cap the opening and make a blanking plate for the spot the Alt comp went (use the gasket as a template) Also youll need shorter screws or some washers under the screw heads cause theyll be too long now.
1, 2, and the soleniod connected to it -can all go, cap all openings.
3- choke delay piping? remove as described above in A
4- the plastic piping? remove as described previously.

got it?

Usually when a screw gets stripped you can use vice grips. Clamp them to the head of the screw and turn.

Strange... we had a pair of needle-nosed vice grips, we just got them on the heads really tight, and gave a push. We found as long as we could actually get the vice grips into where the screw was, we were fine.. the screws that were further in worried us, but they came off..

Wow the forum loaded so slow I didnt even know the post went through..

I didnt get to put the rest of what I had to say..

You can only do so much to a stock carb..

I wouldnt kill my self tring to get ungodly HP out of one of those things, and sending it to PaulYaw is to much money..cause in the long run its still a Nikki..

I just saved cash and when I changed carbs that thing got thrown into the trash so fast..its probally a sink faucet by now..lol

How did you almost snap a the screwdriver doing that. I know they way that you're talking about doing, clamping the vice grips to the shaft of the screwdriver and turning with that. The way I'm talking about doesn't use a screwdriver at all. Just use the vice grips, clamp them straight onto the head of the screw, and turn.

Seeing how corroded that carb is, I'm not surprised the screws are seized up. That's one nasty lookin' carb.

no no no! thats not what i was doing. I first used the screwdriver, and was pushing so hard turning that thing I felt the screwdriver twisting, like it was gonna break... then i grabbed the vise grips, and tried that, nothing but slippage.
