I filled the holes in with J/B Weld bro. I overstuff them with putty and then I clean them up with a rotary tool.

With what? It's a liquid that you have to mix on a flat surface. Do you think the red gasket maker is a bad idea?

i probably wouldn't use the gasket maker. I'd want something that dries a little harder than that.

JB weld is not a liquid. it's kinda like bondo. and the only hole that needs filled is the one left by the rod that ran down from the choke plate to the throttle so ur not sucking dirty air thru it. mine is filled with something like rtv casket sealer or caulk. wasn't done by me.

holding up just fine. the sun was casting a shadow on that area so had to block it with my hand for it to show up well in the photo.

heres what mine looks like. I just put my finger over the hole on the inside of the carb and squirted it in from the outside.

I really think you should've use the J/B weld instead of that stuff. I just filled a dropper with it and squirted it all in there.

damn hadnt thought of that. k i guess tomorrow ill go find a dropper and pull the top of the carb off and push the rtv out. so you just mix it on a flat surface and suck it up into the medicine dropper?

Ok managed to get JB weld into the choke rod holes. It was messy as hell! So now my question is since I no longer have the butterfly do I need to bend the fast idle linkage so that it pushes the throttle further to compensate for the lack of choke butterfly?

removing the choke blade has no effect on the fast idle workings. it will still idle up when u pull the cable.

ok i was just curious cuz i figured a lot of the higher idle was from the butterfly closing and restricting the air flow and mine looks like it will just barely move the throttle so i wasnt sure.

ok so the carb transplant went well with no flooding/sticking float needles. now just working on getting the idle/mixture adjusted. here are some pics.

I was going to remove the coasting valve butterfly but someone apparently beat me to it.

Now to clean up the engine harness.

well the carb is on and working and the engine seems to have plenty of power but the throttle seems spongy. what might cause that?
