carb question

i recently aquired a 13 carb and manifold, and i was wondering if the carb itself will mount up to the 12a manifold? it looks like it will, but i wanna know for sure before tearing **** apart.

I dont think so. I am in possesion of a 13B reverse runner manifold temporarily and the bolt pattern is different. But the good news is that the runner pattern is almost perfect. The carb secondaries match up great, and the primaries are only slightly off. But not enough to be a problem.

The 12A intake manifold should not fit the 13B since the engine is a little "longer", same thing with the exhaust manifold.

from what hozz told me, its from the gsl-se. im not using the runner, just the carb. the runner is going into the friends rotary luv project. thats why asked if the cfms are higher in the se motor if not, theres no point changing it

The GSL-SE did not come with a carb, it was fuel injected...

How about posting some pics of this carb, it will help us help you.

If the 13b carb that you have is the factory Hitachi that came on the carbed 13b's then it has a slightly different bolt pattern than the Nikki carb that came on the 12a's.

No, all North America market 13b powered rx7's (SE) were EFI, ALL 12A's were Nikki carbed. And I had it a little backwarda. The bolt pattern on the 13B carb (Hitatchi) is bigger then the Nikki so youd need to make a spacer plate to widen the bolt pattern. It's doable, depending on your fab skills.

my fab skill are superb, but there is no point wasting time if that hitachi isnt at least 50 cfms more than the nikki. know what i mean vern. im just trying to save some time that i can spend on some other aspect of the rotary.
