The secondary jets, passenger side, only open under load. You can't rev the engine and watch them open. How do you know they're clogged?

In my sig line is a link to the FSM and Carb manual. Before rebuilding the carb, make sure you know it needs it.

i had my wife bring the car to 4k and hold it i had removed the air cleaner and looked into it with a flash light. Would that put load on it to make the secondaries open up. I only started looking at this when the car got a bit sluggish

No, under load means driving it. Free reving does not place a load on the engine.

First, describe the problems you're having in detail. Second, read through Sterling's threads on carbs in the FAQs.

The whole story is it was 38 degrees out side cab does not have a choke so I pumped the gas pedal 5 times and it started right up. I drove about a mile and then the rpm’s dropped from 800 to about 450. I hit the gas to bring the idle back up it came up to about 1200 then moved passed the stop light. At the next stop light the idle was holding at 900 and then I got home. I cheeked the car over did not see any thing out of the ordinary. I started the car again it fired right up about 25 to 30 min after I had turned it off. The next morning I went down to start the car pumped it 5 time like normal when it is cold out side I heard it try to fire up but it ran for a second then died so I pumped it 5 more time and it did the same thing. Then I pumped it 8 time and it fired up ok. The idle was a little ruff but I adjusted for that and it smoothed on out but the power it had above 3000 rpm is not there any more it is about 2/3. I did do a compression cheek on the motor and it came out the same as factory sepc. So at that point i began to looking to the carb and id not see the secondary jets working and thought that was the problem.

Ok history on the car is 5000 miles ago the 12a was rebuild and 7000k miles ago trany was rebuilt. In December I cleaned up the electrical and replaced 90% of the wire from copper to silver 16th gage and 10 gage. Has new starter, battery, 80 amp alternator, cap and rotor, new ignition coils, a new throttle cable, new radiator and holes, and I did the front mount oil cooler instead of the beehive. O and the Fuel filter was replaced about 3 weeks ago. That is why I went to thinking it is some thing to do with the carb first what do yall think.

I vote rebuild. Or just take it off and take off the problematic side's sight glass and see if your jets are clogged.

Since it has no choke, what other mods have been done to the carb and what did you adjust? Idle speed or mixture screw? I'm guessing that maybe you have the mechanical secondary mod? If that's the case, the secondaries should have opened. If they aren't, then whatever was used to tie the linkage together has come off.
