carb? problem

to start off, my car is an 83 gsl with the rat's nest still in, but the air pump is gone. this is the way i bought it.

today i got my car out of the barn, and started tuning the carb because i just got it back on after my rebuild on wednesday. i got it to run good at around 1000 rpm. i know this is a little high, but i couldn't get it any lower without it stalling. anyway. it ran like a dream and warmed up to operating temperature fine. so i tried to rev it up. it revs up fine until about 1100 rpm, and then it starts to only run on one rotor. my dad was looking in the carb and revving it, and he saw that the front barrel on the carb was getting a different amount of fuel than the one that feeds the back rotor. i think the front one had a lot more fuel coming out than the rear one. i don't know what this problem is, so i took the air horn off the carb again, and cleaned out the jets and stuff again. i noticed water in the gas, so i drained it all out, and put new gas in with some dry gas stuff that sucks out the water. i havent' had a chance to run it since then because my fuel pump overheated and quit working.

any help with this problem will be much appreciated.

Do you still have the shutter valve installed, or has it been removed?

Yes that stupid thing is the shutter valve. It may be seized closed, so if you can remove it and plug the hole, otherwise get it open and wire it open or use JBWeld to keep it open. Cap the nipple on it, then go to www.mazspeed.com to get rid of all the other rats nest crap.

Holy **** dude! I never even realized that you are in my town! You'll have to bring her by some time for a cold brewski. If I'd realized you were local, I would have told you about the autocross we had last Sunday. We had like 6 RX7s there.
