Carb not working properly?
Ok i have a 1983 rx7 pretty much bone stock except for the carb, which is a Holley 600, and a Holley Red electric fuel pump. My problem is that the car refuses to start, when i push down on the accelerator pedal only a few droplets of gas will come out. I was told that it was the accelerator pump, but that checked out just fine at summit. So i am leaning more toward that maybe somethings wrong with one of the injectors, I do not know enough about carbs to know exactly what is wrong and that is why I am asking now. Also the car will start is I pour gas into the carb but that does not solve my problem. BTW I have searched plenty but I found nothing, but I also could have missed the thread. Thanks

Are you sure you have fuel getting to the carb? Can you hear your Fuel pump running? Have you checked your fuel filters? Did you check to make sure the float bowls have fuel?

yes i tested the pump and fuel is making it to the carb.. sorry i forgot to mention that, and the fuel filter seems to be fine, but I will check that out when I get another chance.

Even if the accel pump is pooched it should still run fine . the accelerator pump delivers a healthy squirt of fuel directly into the engine for acceleration purposes.. If you are getting fuel to the carb and have a choke that works you must not be getting the fuel in past the needle and seat .. remove the level screw in the side of the float chamber and check if you can see any fuel .. even stick something small down through the hole ( something that won't break off ) and see if there is any fuel in the float chamber ... If you have fuel to the carb the float must be stuck .. remove the float chamber and check it out .. Just don't blow things out to much with compressed air as you could blow small pieces away and not know where they came from never mind finding them .. It is possible that the ball valve is stuck and not letting the accelerator pump do it's job also but the engine should still run without it working ..Check it out and let us know..
