Carb. leaking gas- need help!!

I have a Dellorto carb on my '84 rx7. the car was fuel injected but the previous owner replaced it with this Dellorto carb with a slew of Racing Beat parts. the carb sits horizontal off of a Racing Beat intake manifold. when the car idles, too much gas goes into the carb and leaks out the barrels. it will do it on and off from idle. does anyone know if there is a way to adjust how much fuel goes to the carb? could there be any other causes as to why gas leaks out the barrels?
here is a picture:

if you look closely at the 2 barrels, it has a lighter color on the bottom than on the sides of the barrels. that is due to the gas leaking out and onto the engine itself. the carb is made in Italy so i havent touched it. No one in my area will work on it either because of lack of knowledge of rotaries and also because the carb is made in italy. any help would be benificial. thanks.

What fuel pressure regulator and fuel pump are you running? If it's the stock FI pump, you need a return style fpr such as the Mallory 4309. If the pump has been changed out to one for carb applications, then the fuel pressure is too high and/or the float levels are too high.

Did the car run before, but suddenly started doing this? Or has it had this issue since the carb was installed?

Looks like you have an inline fuel pressure gauge hooked up. What is the psi reading when you have the car running?

Well you need to know the fuel pressure so you may want to get that fixed to see if your fuel pressure is around 4.5 psi or if it is too high. You really sholuld know what psi you're running. It's possible that the floats need to be readjusted as well. Good luck.

now is the pressure the same when you throttle it and at idle, or is it supposed to be different?

Your fpr should keep it regulated to the desired fuel pressure you have it set up; at idle or when you give it some gas. PSI should stay pretty consistent. Good luck.

Before yuo start messign around with the float, you should check the needle/seat for debris that can prevent it from closing.

Good catch Wacky, that would be the 1st place to look before changing float or fuel pressure settings.

Well if you have to adjust your float then you will also see the condition of your needle and seat. It sits right on top of the float tab. When you push it up it should stop the flow of gas from coming into the bowl. Let us know.

well guys i finally figured out the problem. i guess my electrical system wasnt giving enough voltage to have my cars functions working properly. i had to reground my system, fix a couple wires, and install new battery connectors. now gas doesnt leak out the car, the fuel needle oscilates from 2-5psi, and my car idles a lot better now. thanks for all your help
