Carb issues continued........

My rex has been running pretty good up until about 2 days ago, my carb problem came back, in a bad way. I had started the car to let it warm up, and usually the manual choke will go in and the car will idle normally. Well for some reason, it died out, and flooded itself during warm up. I tried and tried my normal method of starting while its flooded, but to no avail. Looked at the carb, and the secondaries were full to the brim, I've never seen it flooded so bad. Do you guys figure thats a float sticking then? I tapped on the carb with a piece of wood, then after turning over for abit, it started up, and ran normal. Also, if I was to run premixed gas, would this lube the carb a little bit maybe, and help prevent the float from sticking??

Yea, the old float sticking. No pre mixing wont help AFAIK. SOme new needles may be needed, or at least clean them.

is this a newly-rebuilt carb? If so, Sterling has some advice on making the new needles less likely to stick. Do a search or check the FAQ.

Otherwise, try Carl's idea. Or try his idea first. He's got way more posts than I do.

I am pretty much carb illiterate. I wouldn't know where to find a needle if it bit me in the ***... I would like to fix this issue in my own, but I don't think I have the know-how. I hopefully will just buy an extra carb to rebuild, or buy one already rebuilt. Eventually.

Run some carb/fuel system cleaner thru the next few tanks of gas. Its now running ok right? It may not be bad enough to warrant a rebuild...........yet.

Carl,
Well it will run good for afew days, then suddenly, it will do that. I used some of that spray carb cleaner, that you put directly into your carb, everytime I did that while it was running, the car would start to bog. Also a couple of weeks ago, I ran some thru the tank. It seemed to have helped, the frequency of the flooding has dropped quite abit, but it still does it time to time, once every couple days. Hey Carl do you sell anything besides Nikki's? If so, what, and how much?

Cool, keep running the fuel system cleaner at each fillup for a while. It'll help remove any varnish which is probably whats causing your sticking floats. If you want something besides a Nikki, Id suggest mazdatrix. They have Holleys and Weber kits. But they aint cheap.

Yeah- Carl turns tricks in downtown Orlando! Just look for the skanky banana!

Hey...Is your "float bowl solenoid" hooked up? Do a search with that phrase.
