Howdy. I decided to pull my carb apart (following the Haynes manual) as I have a gas leak, I have a new gasket and am also cleaning out the float bowl and needles etc.
First thing: One of the float bowls has a hole in the bottom with nothing in it. Is this correct?
Second thing : Turned the float bowl section upside down and this tiny spring fell out. Where is this from?
Sorry if the pics are massive
Float bowl hole.... Small spring

so i don't have an Rx-7 Nikki apart at the moment, but i'm putting an older Nikki (Rx-3) together right now, and i have a possible insight into hole in the bowl (as an aside, my album will be released shortly ). on the carb that i have apart, it seems to feed into the accelerator pump. it looks different compared to yours (different location in the bowl), but if that's the bowl toward the front of the car, then maybe that's what it is. the simplest way to confirm (outside of a more informed person posting) is if you have access to compressed air, you can use it and see where it goes after you've completed disassembly. make sure to do AFTER disassembly or do it in a ziploc bag or something because some of these holes have small check ***** in them and the last thing you need is to shoot one out and lose it.
the spring looks like one of the springs from the back of the needle.
hope this helps you.

Thanks for the reply. I threw it back together and it's all good. I think the spring was from a float needle, probably for the previous owner losing it.
