So I just took my first crack at rebuilding the carb on my 79. I feel like I did alright... but I've got a spare part. Do you guys have any idea where this little spring goes?
Maybe you swept the floor too good. I nave 3 first gen. carbs and none have such a spring. I'll try to attach a pertinent file.

Interesting. I have no idea how it couldve found its way onto the work table i was using but it doesnt really look like it belongs anywhere on the carb. Thanks man.
It looks like a pen spring...
There are a few small springs in that carb, like the fuel cut valve, look at the exploded views in the manuals on foxed.ca
